After 27 years, you gradually know what you have in common. Both have a trajectory behind us in which personal growth, and how we relate to each other in it, has played an important role. So the expectations we started this session with were modest. We both wanted more insight into our basic patterns and how they play out in our relationship...
Great was the surprise when this expectation was immediately exceeded on the first day. Wonderful how Ewoud and Marian interact and the care with which they uncovered the basic patterns together. Our most basic patterns were literally put in the space with everything on them and surrounded with love and respect. A safe place where everything could and was allowed to be. No need to act or keep up appearances.
The structure was clear: exploring the patterns, working out the basic pattern and providing tools to continue with this. This rounded things off nicely after the third day.
And then, of course, there was the wonderful place where the whole thing took place. The farmhouse is an oasis of calm situated in a beautiful landscape. In the front house, we had a sea of space to ourselves. Comfort topped with nostalgia.
Ewoud's exquisite cooking, hospitality, personal and loving attention from both of them made the whole weekend a warm bath in which old pain could be loosened.
It will take some time for it all to really fall into place but it already feels like we were allowed to step into Ewoud and Marian's lift for a while and we were taken up one, or maybe even a few, floors.
